A Quick Getaway To Scottsdale Plaza Resort

Like so many of us, our family has gotten pretty restless during quarantine. I have never been much of a home body. We almost never spend the entire day at home. So when we were forced to quarantine, needless to say, it’s been a challenging transition. So when some of the restrictions began to lift, we took the first opportunity we could to (safely) get out of town and stretch our bodies and minds.

Why We Chose Scottsdale, AZ

Scottsdale is about a 5 hour drive from San Diego, CA. We usually leave early in the morning and try to limit our stops to 1-2. We usually get there in about 6.5 hours including stops for food and to stretch our legs. All in all, the kiddos are pretty used to travel so this feels like an easy trip for us. I’ve found that the trick is to have plenty of snacks :)

Where We Stayed

Scottsdale Plaza Resort

Scottsdale Plaza Resort was our choice due to its close proximity to several dining options, great onsite amenities, and HUGE rooms. Because we new we would mostly be hanging out in our room and swimming, it was important for us to have a room that would allow us to stretch out. Well, needless to say, their 2000 square foot Monte Vista Suite was more than enough for us!

This was literally the biggest hotel room we’ve ever stayed in. It was a two-story suite featuring a bedroom downstairs with two queen beds and a bedroom upstairs with a king bed, two and a half baths with an oversized jetted tub, and a half-bath for guests. There was also a separate living room with fireplace, a formal dining room with wet bar and microwave, and a private patio on the first floor. It was bigger than the house we live in!

They also had 3 pools on property and plenty of space for the kids to ride around on scooters. For large families, this hotel is a must.

Where We Ate

Here’s a list of all the restaurants we ate at and loved. All the places below have several vegan options and also have meat options, so they are a great option for vegans or any group with various diet needs.

Tocaya Organica

The Original Chop Shop

Sasaki Sushi & Bar
