Baby #4 will be here soon!

With each new baby, I’ve grown more and more minimalist in both my lifestyle and approach.   But I can remember back to our first pregnancy like it was yesterday.  I was so stressed and anxious over all the “things” I thought I needed.  I have a vivid memory of Vinny and I going to do our registry and quickly becoming overwhelmed at all the options and stuff it seemed like we needed.  I literally had a total breakdown at the store and we had to leave halfway through!  Looking back, I can now laugh at how silly that seems.  But for a first time mom, the struggle is real.  For that first baby, we ended up buying so many things that we never even used and now seem like such a waste.  The reality is, babies don’t need that much and often times us moms over-complicate what we think are “essentials”.

So while putting together my own baby essentials list, I wanted to take some time to share with all of you what I feel is needed for the arrival of a new baby (and what can be left out).  The following list is intended to get a mom through the first 6 months or so of the baby’s life.  Sure there might be one or two things you end up needing that aren’t on this list, but the idea is that those few extra things can easily be picked up after baby comes and its better to know you need them vs. buying a bunch of stuff ahead of time that you never use.

I also wanted to create a registry that would be easy for all of you to shop should you also be expecting.  I decided to work with buy buy BABY to help us create this list.  I was so pleased with both our experience and the wide range of products they offer.  We scheduled an appointment with their Baby Registry Department and walked the entire store with one of their associates.  Even though I consider myself a very knowledgeable mama on baby stuff, our associate Jessica still provided some great insight and suggestions, particularly with some of the newer products that I didn’t know existed yet.   The majority of the products listed here can be found at buy buy BABY and you’ll see a few more listed from some small local and independent brands that are sold directly on their own websites.

The following list represents things that I personally plan to buy for our baby and things that I used on a regular basis with my previous children. I will exclusively breast feed so things like bottles, breast pumps and formula didn’t make it on the list. So if you find yourself bottle-feeding or needing to use formula, that’s something you’ll want to consider.

So what do you think?  Anything that you feel I left out?  Anything that you would take away?
